Spiritual and Science
We do have a mysterious thing in our life that
correlates with past life. If we consult the learned personalities, they
will say the things that will speak of our karmic connection and the science
says the otherwise, the mere coincidence. Actually, science and religion
should go hand in hand and we should believe in both theories. Indeed, it is
the end-users who should take faith on the way round suiting the situation around.
There are stories of reincarnation that recollect the past life’s work and
remembers the past life. And there are those who dictate us of our past life
and predict our future. Sometimes, it is so contradictory to carry on the
belief that paves our road ahead. If the words are of comforting/soothing, we
feel the encouragement within us to go ahead. If the news is otherwise, the big
doubt and unwillingness to pass through kill us halfway.
Some people are way too much into believing like orthodox. I feel there should be a limitation in everything we are up to. Spiritually, we should be following all the good things that are taught and recite all the mantras that we are supposed to. That should be our daily chores and shouldn’t be left out in our life. Scientifically, we should believe those scientifically proven facts & figures and follow those prescribed by the experts. I can see some patients only into spiritual beliefs and do not consult the doctors, which is totally ignorant. Religion and science should go together.

Recently, I had a bad experience when my sister was admitted to ICU. It was really hard for all to see her at that stage. Scientifically, the medication was provided professionally by the expertise but when the input of blood in not received by her body resulting in an overflow of blood from her mouth and nose, we thought of her breakage of promise that she took from Dechenphug Lhakhang not to drink. Suddenly, that took us to a belief that, that may be the reason which we requested Kaynyar of Lhakhang to accept the apology and offered the Serkem and Karmey on her behalf (after a Nyandar and Serkem is being touched and prayed by herself). Today, my sister is alright and discharged from the hospital. She visited the Lhakhang and offered her thanks to the deities and promised never to break the promise. I thank you all the local deities for giving her the second chance and today when she promises never to repeat, I am sure Chhoe-Chongs have forgiven her. We call it a Shak-Pa (Forgive) which will be once and for all. I hope she will not repeat the same after knowing the consequences.
As I jot this in here, I remind all not to joke around with the religious beliefs. We are Buddhists and it is a proven fact that our actions speak volumes of our deeds. So don't harm others even when you can't help.
