Eczema

My Daughter Sonam Yoesel Thayeden
Everyone, in one way or the other, has experienced the deadly disease that has stuck with you forever. The experience will be tough and challenging that will test your patience and your faith of course. If one gives a deep thought and reflect on what causes it to infect our body, it's all about our Karma, our past deeds that makes it possible in this life. We all are temporary being living in a moment without knowing what will happen next. Nobody can predict the Next Moment and we are all bound to decay and decompose. But when we are alive we don't want to suffer, we don't want to be infected with diseases. Because of which many scientists have discovered numerous means of treatment and they are always in their toes to discover the new methods. At times, I feel that we need to undergo this type of experience for the fact that we realize of our impermanence in this planet Earth because some tend to be too busy mending for ones gain and forgetting the real value of our precious life.
Thanks to these Creams

I am blessed with a beautiful daughter who unfortunately had to undergo the skin disease so-called Eczema. It is a rash that will cause the victim itchy and scalp texture. For those who are parents will understand the pain and helplessness when your child who is too young to express what they feel. When my daughter was infected with eczema, she was only three months old. The rash started from her face spreading to her head and finally, all her body was covered with a rash. It has become so worse to the extent of losing her hair with the scalp. Every now and then we used to keep on applying the cream and prevent it from dryness. It hurt me the most when I remember those days when we used to cover her up along with her hands with the blanket in order to prevent her from scratching. Every time, we notice a yellowish discharge from her head spread in her pillow. With all these sufferings, my daughter stands with us fighting all the way and today with the grace of God and with the help of modern medication she is growing to a beautiful girl.

We believe in Man-Chay-Rimdro (Religious belief and Medication) should go hand in hand. We did that way and I am satisfied with the outcome of it. Religious belief says she needs to have a Godfather because the parents are not bonded with her spiritually. Fortunately, we were able to get one who fulfills all the requirements and who gracefully accepted our offer. He is one of the close disciples of Drodup Rinpoche. He is currently residing at Paro practicing the Dharma for the benefits of all sentient beings. His Name is Ugyen Kelzang. We also had a blessing from Dudjom Tenzin Yeshey Dorje and Yangsi Dungsey Gyanata Rinpoche. On the other hand, we were asked to admit to JDWNRH for three days. Close observation and daily monitoring of the Dermatologist has improved the condition of my daughter. They have prescribed with different creams to be continued after our discharge from the hospital. These include Cetaphil, DermaDew Cream, Hydrocortisone, Clobeta, Mupimet, and Cloderam.  We are still using Cetaphil Moisturizer cream (thrice a day), but the thing is it can be only purchased from Thimphu medical clinics.

Today, my daughter is 2 years and 3 months old. She is an angel to me and I am her best friend. She is vegan by default in a sense that she has got an allergy with Diary products. Her mouth swells up with some rashes around her mouth when she eats something containing Dairy Products. She has never tasted Ice-Cream, Cake, Chocolates, Biscuits (Except Marie Biscuits) and Non-Veg Items including an Egg. Who wouldn't want to taste Ice-Cream/Cake at her age? Who don't want Chocolates at this age? Who will know the content when you haven't tasted it once? My daughter who is 2 years old is an answer. She knows what is an ice-cream, Cake, chocolates, chips, biscuits, etc and when offered would return back with the saying, "Aaa-Tshi Bay-Wong" (it will hurt her). I appreciate her with all my heart for that. A 2 years old kid knows what is good and bad, What to eat and what not to.

I wish and hope that the same kind of experiences is not bestowed in your path of life. Even if that is what fate has reserved for you, I am praying that these type of disease is not infected to the young souls.
