Happy Losar - 2020

It is always nice to be back at Dam Colony
LOSAR, which literally translates to New Year. It is the first day of the new year, the year of Iron Male Mouse Year. It is a very important day of the year to which the day is declared holiday for two days. Losar is widely celebrated by the Tibetan, Bhutanese and those who follow Buddhism.

It is a time to reflect upon oneself for the deeds that we have left behind the previous year and to resolute ourselves for the things that we are ought to do. An opportunity to beg for forgiveness to those you may have hurt unintentionally and carry on with the good memories that you have created unconditionally.  A day to celebrate with your family and friends near and far, with a mixture of laughter, smiles, and joy.

The first month of the year in the Bhutanese calendar signifies an auspicious month. The whole month is banned from selling the non-veg items by our current Je Khenpo discouraging the people from consuming the flesh and blood of poor animals. Contrary to the order, the people rush in for the stock that makes no sense for keeping the month free meatless. I can imagine how much more would the animal sacrifice before the start of the month-long meatless when everybody wishes to keep the stock. If there is no demand then there won't be supply. I pray for those poor animals who have sacrificed their lives to fulfill the greed of the senseless people.

Starting the first day with meat items on the plate is not a wise way of celebrating. We have been into the world of samsara for ages and we will be living here for another ages if the mindset for celebrations is not changed. Celebrations!!!! Chicken, Mutton, Beef, Pork, etc... are all those items that tick to our mind. If we think carefully for a second, we can't celebrate upon the death of others. I wish, there is something like App so that we can install in every mind of the people to think it straight.

I apologize to those people whom they think I have hurt them.
I beg your pardon to those who have more expectations from me.
I thank to those whom we have shared the moments.
I salute to those who have chosen the right track.
I pray for the bond to those who have moved out.
I wish you all a VERY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS LOSAR.
