Vacation-2018

Giving yourself some space and time from the daily works is what makes us refreshed and freshen up in a way that we perform better. Vacating once a year (not necessarily once) is what everyone looks forward to so that it is spent meeting families, friends, parents, relative, visiting hometown and sometimes going for pilgrimage.
Ossey, on the way to Gelephu
Every year I go for a vacation with an intention to perform Annual Rimdro. It has become my must-to-do list so that my year completes with an Annual Rimdro at my home. I started my vacation w.e.f 14.12.2018 and ends on 31.12.2018. Within these span of time, I have visited my hometown, Gelephu Umling where I spent most of my time there. All the members of my family gathered with the same moto and that’s to Enjoy. I got 2 elder sisters and two younger sisters that make 15 members including their better half and children. Having these many members in one place is rare and that happens every winter vacation where we gather together. Unlike this year, we used to have a plan/task to perform so that we are engaged productively. Unfortunately, we got nothing this year.
With Grandma
We got to spare some time in between to visit our Grandma at Sarpang. She was overwhelmed to see all of us together. Interestingly some are seeing her for the first time. She has turned 87 years old and doing fine. We wished her best of health and assured her that we will meet again. On our return, we went in the campus of Sarpang School. Formally it was Sarpang Middle Secondary School, now it’s Sarpang Central School. I have studied there from 7th standard (2002) to 10th standard (2005). After 13 years, the campus has become so differently beautiful. I can no longer see the old academic building, instead, it has been replaced with beautiful three storied academic block. The assembly ground has been provided with tiles and classrooms
Dadghari Parking space
facilitated with ACs. I could reminiscence the bygone days standing there and got a smile with the belief that time really flies. On our return journey, we stopped to visit Sarpang Zangdopelri and Sershong Lhakhang.
I also got to visit Dadghari Market (Thursdays) located 2km (approx) away from Bhutan Gate. You name anything that you want and that’s the place you get. The market is filled with Bhutanese ranging from wholesale buyers to the one who roams like me. All parking spaces have been filled with Bhutanese vehicles and some have even gone to the extent of providing their land for parking space so that they collect a charge at the end. I could see Indians selling and Bhutanese buying. It was really a busy day for Indian shopkeepers.

The annual Rimdro was held on 29.12.2018. It was successful and satisfying. All the villagers came to pay their respect and gave their blessings to us. I thank a year-2018 for the year was successfully completed without major problems and I prayed for another successful year-2019.
