Nge Thimphu

The city is known to the world without Traffic lights,
The capital city of Bhutan.
That holds the Golden throne,
The city where the office of His Majesty is in place,
The place where His Holiness Je Khenpo resides.
The city that houses the temple of Democracy;
Both the National Council and National Assembly.
It is a place nearly half of the country’s population lives,
That the offices of Ten ministries functions,
The place that holds the offices of constitutional post holders;
Viz: ACC, RAA, ECB, RCSC.
The busiest city in Bhutan,
That hosts most of the business tycoons,
The most exchanged town in Bhutan,
The city that attracts most of the regional tourists,
And the city where rapid construction boom is taking place.
And if you go to the Sunday market,
One would feel like you were in Jaigoen,
With full of Construction laborers.
Many restaurants in the town,
If you ask for the menu,
Beef, Pork, Chicken, Mutton... are what they offer,
With meat shops in every corner of the town,
I am wondering how much innocent animals are slaughtered every day.
More than cars in the town,
There are Dogs everywhere,
Dog bite cases have been reported on a daily basis,
And the barking of those creatures disturbs your peaceful night.
Rising of drugs user,
And youth-related problems;
Rise in unemployment problem,
Migration from Rural to Urban,
Possess the growth in the formation of Gangs,
That results in gang fights and alcohol-related problem,
Making unsafe to travel alone.
Planning your waste needs to be strict,
Segregated in a separate bin,
For those that can be rot and that can’t,
Timing is what one should be vigilant,
The collection can be seen in weekdays and that too in day time,
Making the office goers with no solution,
Than to dump nearby the roads during odd hours.
Right from the time you start a car,
Park your car, Go to the bathroom,
All that matters is money.
Buddha Point is the most visited place,
Gives the joggers and the cyclist a place,
Despite the busy life in the town.
Memorial Chorten can be seen as a crowded place,
With all rage of ages circumambulating,
Giving a platform to stretch oneself.
All in all, this is Thimphu,
My Thimphu, Our Thimphu.
