Lockdown 2.0

Silent Thimphu

It was proven that, lockdown breaks the chain of local transmission of diseases. It provides the professionals to study the disease carefully and plan the way forward accordingly. A lady was detected to be Covid-19 positive from the flu clinic in Thimphu which led to Lockdown in Thimphu Dzongkhang on 20th December 2020. The news of lockdown was known to the public early in the morning before the government could officially announce. This has shaken the minds of all the people, rushing to every corner of shops, buying essential items. The first thing that triggers the minds of the people is FOOD/EATING. From my little perspective view, that very moment will be the perfect opportunity to spread the disease when many people rush without adapting the Covid-19 protocols.

It was on Saturday night, the relatives came for a baby shower and we had a great time. Early in the morning of Sunday at around 8:00 AM, some friends were calling informing us of the possibility of the Lockdown. I woke up, informing all, woke my sister who came from Paro and shared the news. I was like, “Come on, Pack up, You need to go now”. It was 8:45 AM when they left for Paro. At 9:00 AM there was a press release stating, Thimphu will be under lockdown which literally means that I am stranded in Thimphu. God knows for how many days.

After three days, National Lockdown for the second time was announced. Many improvements in terms of service delivery, zoning system, and mobile clinic facility. The nation came together in fighting the disease rendering full cooperation and following the protocols of Covid-19 diligently as announced and informed by the media.

With full of hope and prayers, May this pandemic ends soon, and may all the patients be recovered with best of health.
