Dang-Pa Losar

Early in the morning of Losar, I was prompted by my Best Friend that Losar (Dangpa) is actually a New Year celebration unlike the whole world does it on 1st January. As the name depicts 'Daw-DangPa Losar' (1st day of the 1st month of a New Year), I was perplexed to have not known by myself. I shall mark this day and will remember that we actually got to celebrate 2 New Years. 

This year, Losar was coincidental with the Birth Anniversary of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey (3 years old) and to celebrate this special occasion it was declared OFF for 2 days (5-6.02.2018).

To celebrate the day, I planned to organize the get together with the friends of Dam Colony and added some new friends in the list of the already existed group in WeChat. I had a feeling that this may be the last and final gathering if all agreed to conglomerate with the same motto: POTLUCK. Around 16 members were added in the group and the response received was all negative. Thus the plan to Bumthang came alive in a flash. 

Journey starts

Coincidencendly, I would rather state it was fortunate that His Holiness Dungsey Garab Rinpochhe wants to accompany all the Throema Practitioners of Bumthang to Tharpaling and make a pilgrimage to Rock Thorne of Longchenpa. It is believed that the greatest Tibetan master Longchen Rabjam wrote part of the seven treasures there. 
The journey began from the Yugharling Resort at 9 AM. 100s of devotees gathered in line to receive Rinpochhe and 50+ vehicles were in line behind Rinpochhe towards Tharpaling. 10:50 AM the journey by foot uphill began towards the Rock Throne. I can feel the excitement of all the devotees to meet and receive the blessings form Rinpochhe. It was an hour journey by walk, the path was too steep, Rinpochhe in the front leading, finally we arrived at the destination and I felt at ease, felt like it is due to the blessing of Rinpochhe. 

Offering of Prayer

Upon reaching the destination, we were made to sit facing Rinpochhe. A prayer of Longchen was offered by Rinpochhe followed by teaching. Every individual was lucky to have a close glimpse of Rinpochhe as some devotees who recently visited Bodh Gaya shared that they hardly have a glace of Rinpochhe there and he felt very emotional seeing Rinpochhe close enough. 
It was now a time to descend back. A spot was chosen to have lunch. I can see the people rushing back to the spot so that they got to prepare before Rinpochhe reach. Among them was Trulku Tshulthrim Gocha whom I know. 

Varieties of Dishes

Different varieties of packed lunch from all the devotees were displayed. Rinpochhe wished everyone a very Happy Dangpa Losar. It was really a rare moment for me to have celebrated a Losar with Rinpochhe and that too at a sacred place. 
We enjoyed our lunch together in the presence of Rinpochhe. 

The day ended with a prayer in my heart.
