A very auspicious month-long Saga Dawa has come to an end. The month-long was observed as an auspicious month by the Buddhist community who follows Buddhism. The whole month is dedicated to Merit Making month; for which it is known to the whole that the single action of good and virtuous deeds multiplies its merits to a significant deed. It falls on the fourth month of the Buddhist calendar. 

In Bhutan, it is observed by banning the import of all the non-veg items which basically means,  consuming meat for a month is discouraged. But then people are people, differing notions and many have more different views upon the ban. Though Buddhists, the mindset has become in such a way that the teaching of Buddha was 'Once Upon a Time' and it should be followed when one is too old. That notion and belief are totally wrong; we don't know when we will leave this planet and the uncertainty of our life shouldn't be taken into granted when it comes to accumulating the merits. The opportunity and platform are provided OR I should call it 'Golden Opportunity' for a month to take up the good deeds and avoid the bad thing. 

Refraining from taking meat is one thing that we observe it. It indirectly saves the lives of an innocent animal. But then people are seen rushing to the meat stalls, and saving the stock for a month as if they will die without meat for a month. If the trend goes that way, the sole purpose of banning meat products is lost. It is not serving any good, to the innocent animal nor to the law enforcer. The poor animals are slaughtered for the hungry human. 

Some say when Lamas and Rinpchhes are having meat, why not we? What is the difference?

There is a hell lot of difference in here. They are enlighted one and they eat with a pure heart and a prayer in their mind. They pray for the soul and they have a capacity to liberate from samsara. Who are we? We are common people who barely recite MANI, who rarely pray, who seldom visits the Lhakhang. We are not that pure in heart and once the meat is laid on our plate we change into a wicked and inhuman person. 

Anyways, saying is easy. I am no one to preach nor am I qualified to advise anyone. I am not pure in heart and I have that desire that changes me to the land of devils. 

I may have hurt and caused the feelings unintentionally or unknowingly. The reason may not be that hurtful but then the saying may have caused the circumstances/situation. I request those to forgive me and pardon me for my wrongdoings La.
