Nostalgic Vibe

View of Khaling Dawzor
Khaling, under Trashigang Dzongkhag is my native place where I was born and grown up. After 20 years of gap, I am visiting my village. It was in 1999, after completing my fourth standard, I moved with my parents at Umling under Sarpang Dzongkhag. Ever since then, I have never been to Khaling, that makes two decades. It was a refreshing experience for me. Many thoughts ran over my veins remembering the old me, quiet and shy young boy, a boy who doesn't know what future is, a boy who never crossed beyond Khaling and a boy who yearns for the love of his parents.

Today, here I am, standing with my own toe, helping my parents with the little way and I got a tap in my brain like, "WIll I be the Same ME if I am to stay here for the last 20 yrs?". God knows.

Roads have been constructed in the village. Many new houses have been built. Many more renovation has taken place. I am like, What? Where is the house we stayed? Where is that tree (Gi-Shing)? (pointing to the location). It was like being in a new place. Lots of improvement in terms of structure and cleanliness is observed. I can feel the old me in a place under the house. I can see myself playing on that tree. I can feel the little boy looking from that old window. The picture I drew (don't know when) is still visible on that window. It gave me a nostalgic vibe.

Many people came for the 21 days rituals of my grandma. They look at me, stare at me for a sec and utters "Nan Chenga Penjor gila mo?" (are you Chenga Penjor?)". "Gila ko la, Gum la yay lu ma la na (Yea I am, but I don't know you)". All seems to be surprised, the way they show, how little I was when I left.

Lots of forgotten Sharshop terms (I would rather say Bombastic words) is being taught by my Aku. Pointing to one, "What you call this?". I was mum most of the time.
It was also a great opportunity for me to meet and know the relatives. I was happy to know that I have Sisters & Brothers whom I will rely on when in need. I had an opportunity to spend time with my father and mother and explored more of our cultures (Goenpo Maning Nagpo is our Lha and Abi Jomo & Mamai Gangling is our Kay-Tshen). Met with my Grandpa, together we had a wonderful time and successfully conducted the 21 days rituals.
