Teachers' Day

His Majesty the late king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck was known as the Father of Modern Bhutan. His Majesty opened the door of Bhutan to the outside world. He introduced motor road system in our country, Phuntsholing-Thimphu being the first one constructed by DANTAK. He also opened many schools around the country and propagated the importance of education. It is said that each household was made to send one child for schooling. Even then some household used to hide their children when the officials come for registration of the children. Many avoid sending them for schooling because they want them for working in the field. It was understood that the Girls are to help the mother in doing the household work and Boys to help the father. Moreover, parents are not aware of the future after schooling. It is also due to the language problem since mostly the teachers are from India.

Nevertheless, some of the bright students were sent to India, mainly to Kalimpong and those were holding the best position in the country. His Majesty made a point that the children are enrolled in the schools. The importance of education is made to understand by the Bhutanese and as of now, there is a negligible section of children deprived of the education. Bhutan is one nation that provides free education.

Teachers of Sarpang (2002-2006)
When the children are in the schools, Teachers are responsible for shaping the young mind and paving the path to the future. Each child is faced with different teachers in different stages of their life. Teachers are the mentors and are considered as second parents.

Teachers sacrifice everything for the good of students and they treat everyone the same and instill the knowledge. They guide the students, shows the path ahead, pull up those who fall, wake the ones who sleep and most importantly they believe in every student. Teachers don't expect anything in return when their students become minister, Directors, Doctors, Engineers... instead, they feel proud.
So, in order to pay our homage and to remember our bygone teachers and teachers at present, May-2, coinciding with the Birth Aniversary of His Majesty the late king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, Teachers' Day is celebrated in Bhutan. Every student takes part in this significant event.

Teachers of Zhemgang (2006-2008)
I join the nation in celebrating the National Teachers' Day and offer my sincerest gratitude to all my Teachers of Khaling (1995-2000), Umling (2000-2002), Sarpang (2002-2006), Zhemgang (2006-2008) and CST (2008-2012). Hope all are in good health and serving the nation in the best of their abilities.
I also offer my deepest gratitude to the elders who have introduced me to the world of Hydro when I joined MHPA (2012-till date). I have worked with a different boss and every time I change my Boss, I learn something new, not necessarily about the Hydro but the way of life. I consider all who teaches you how to deal with the situations are the Teachers. I wish all my leaders a very Happy Teachers' Day and I wholeheartedly Thank you for all your services in shaping me. I am who I am because of you all.

It is even more special since my sisters (elder and younger) are both Teachers, serving in Tsirang and Dagana respectively.

HAPPY TEACHERS' DAY
